| Nick
Walker emerged from the groundbreaking Bristol
graffiti scene of the early 80s. He conceptualised
the breakthrough graffiti exhibition at the Arnolfini
Art Gallery in 1984 (the first in Bristol) which
featured the work of 3D, Z- Boys, Fade, Jaffa,
Pride and Nick along with Scot Stevens. He eventually
moved away from street painting and his infamous
EGO tag to become Nick Walker the Apish Angel.
As a forerunner of the British graffiti phenomenon,
Nick's subversive work became a blueprint for
burgeoning artists for years to come. Combining
intricate stencil images with his conventional
freehand methods, his work has constantly evolved
and always remains innovative and thought provoking.
He has painted for film sets from Judge Dredd
to Stanley Kubrick's Eyes Wide Shut and his distinctive
style has crossed the transition from streets
and film sets to gallery walls. He has collaborated
with many of the leading brands from Adidas to
Michiko Koshino and his latest commission is a
innovative collaboration with Kangol.
