EVOLVING STYLES: LIVE STREET ART AUCTION IN ASSOCATION WITH BOXFRESH
FRIDAY 6 / 13 / 20 / 27 JULY 2007
CARGO
6pm-9pm, FREE ENTRY
ALL PROCEEDS TO CHARITY

The most illustrious names in the world of street art are uniting in London every Friday night in July for the UK's first live street art charity auction. Evolving Styles, in association with street wear label Boxfresh, is a live sealed auction house where renowned artists will paint live on canvases to auction off for charity on the same night.

Evolving Styles sees acclaimed artists such as the legendary Lady Pink (New York), Mr Kern (Barcelona), Herakut (art duo, Germany), Nick Walker (Bristol), Stormie (Australia), Part 2 (UK), TASSO (Germany) and Xenz (UK) each paint on 6 canvases in Cargo’s outside space. Evolving offers a rare chance to invest in one-off works of art and unlike Christie’s or Sotheby’s, this auction house has a BBQ, the best DJs playing out and artists creating the art in front of audiences.

At 8pm a sealed auction begins where anyone can bid as little or as much as they want for their preferred canvas. At 9pm, the winning bidders will get to take home their exclusive pieces of art with them that night.

Evolving Styles kicks off on Friday July 6 with the notorious German artist TASSO (the master of photorealist graffiti) and British freestyle artist Xenz (hotly tipped as the next most important graffiti artist in British art) creating art live at the auction.

Boxfresh’s involvement with Evolving Styles is another example of the label’s strong affiliations with the rapier-sharp edge of street culture. The brand made an overwhelming and indelible impact on British street culture history when it launched back in ’89 and it has continued to support the more discerning street influenced art, design and music ever since. From its humble beginnings on market stalls in Greenwich and Camden, the label is now credited as being one of the pioneers of British street wear in the UK.

For nearly two decades Boxfresh has identified, evolved and collaborated with the most important street culture scenes and British talent, working with the then rising stars in graffiti through to leading independent record labels like Ninja Tune. They’ve dressed every respected name in quintessentially British-born music genres, from LTJ Bukem and Roni Size to Dizzee Rascal. Now they’ve hooked up with Evolving Styles to unite the leading names in the world of graffiti on British soil for a live street art auction. All bidders will be automatically entered into a draw following the auction for the chance to win Boxfresh apparel, accessories and footwear (the label’s newest division which launched in 2006).

This is a rare opportunity to get your hands on some of the world’s best street art, give to charity and have the perfect run up to a Friday night. Get there early to avoid disappointment.

Artist Line-Up:
July 6: TASSO + Xenz
July 13: Stormie + Part 2
July 20: Lady Pink + Nick Walker
